At noon on September 29, 1975 WLJS officially signed on the air for the first time. With the click of a button and a few words by JSU President, Ernest Stone, who then cut a ribbon draped across the sound board (photo below), JSU began a tradition of excellence in radio broadcasting that continues today.

At noon on September 29, 2015 we began a year-long celebration of this milestone in the history of WLJS and the University it has served these past 40 years. What better way to celebrate than by helping the students who currently operate the station by providing them with the resources they need to ensure the tradition continues for another 40 years?
